Skiers return time and time again to the Austrian ski resorts due to their authenticity, and best-in-class infrastructure. The lively apres-ski scene adds to the fun. Proximity to airports with good rail or road connections means less hassle reaching the resorts. But above all, skiing in Austria is a passion.
Ski Arlberg, home to St. Anton, Lech and Zürs, is Austria’s largest ski area. Considered by many to be the best in the country, and in the top 5 in the Alps, it is famous for its long runs, ample snow, and top class facilities. Kitzbühel has hosted skiers for over a century, visitors are attracted in all seasons by its world class facilities and beautifully preserved centre. Property buyers are attracted to some magnificent chalets in the region. Nearby is Kirchberg in Tyrol, which is well connected to the KitzSki area, and the surrounding villages such as St. Johann and Jochberg. Equally acclaimed is Zell am See, a beautiful lake-side town with a thriving property market, which has true dual-season appeal and a superb 408km of skiing available to visitors. This includes Kaprun, home to the renowned Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Fieberbrunn, Saalbach and Hinterglemm make up the extensive Skicircus network which is now also accessible from Zell am See. Another major ski area in Tyrol is SkiWelt, 8 villages such as Going, Ellmau, Söll and Brixen im Thale in the valleys either side of the Hohe Salve summit make up this wonderful winter and summer playground. Hochkönig is part of the extensive Amadé ski area, one of the snowiest winter sports areas in the Austrian Alps, just one hour from Salzburg.
