Summer in the Alps - Verbier

Summer in the Alps - Verbier. Why you should visit the Verbier in the summer.

We know the Alps are becoming an ever more popular summer destination, this will surely increase. Why sit on a crowded beach when you have vast spaces, clean air, lots of sunshine and beautiful scenery? The benefits for property owners are clear, either to use it yourself, or to increase rental income. The agents API speaks with live and work in the resorts, they know the place and local property market better than anyone. We are focusing on some of the finest resorts in the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps.

Why you should visit the Verbier this summer

This year is going to be different and the big events are canceled. However this summer, we expect to have the longest and highest zip wire in Europe in operation from the summit of Mt-Fort at 3332m down to the Col des Gentianes at 2900m; the 1400m zip line will take people flying over the Mont Fort glacier at 130km per hour. The E-Bike festival is scheduled for August. The ski lifts open from June 19th. Another highlight is the sunrise at Mt-Fort, almost every week from June.

Is the resort well suited to families, top athletes or both?

The station offers multiple trail and bike paths, downhill, mountain biking, and biking for all levels. Verbier offers top quality mountain biking options from the top of the Ruinettes and Fontanets lifts all the way down to Cries on one side, Les Morgnes on the other, and Le Châble. There are connections over to La Tzoumaz, Nendaz and Veysonnaz via the marked Tour du Mont-Fort. E-bike activity has grown enormously with around fifty routes in the region, these bikes can run between 50 and 100 km depending on how you pedal, making the mountain accessible to all. The annual Grand Raid mountain bike race, Europe’s largest, starts in Verbier – it is rescheduled this year for October.

The Val de Bagnes as well as the district of Entremont offer more than 950 kilometres of breathtaking walking trails. We have walked and hiked them to offer you a selection of 7 varied itineraries, from the bottom of the Bagnes valley through the Combins massif while enjoying an exceptional view of the Rhone Valley. You will find easy walks to hikes tailored to experienced sportsmen and women.

For families, there are many spaces, such as the newly built Place Blanche at the W Hotel, an Aerial Walkway (near Medran), the play area renovated in 2019 in the Place Centrale, many special menus in the restaurants and a lot of easy walks. Of course Verbier is in the Valais region, an area of vast choices all through the summer.

Where can I stay; can your agency help with chalets or apartments to rent in Verbier?

Our agency offers for the summer a fine choice properties to rent, chalets and apartments, with different characteristics (central or not, luxury or standard). Most hotels will also be open this summer.

What would be your best advice for potential buyers and sellers in the current environment?

Prices will not necessarily change, except if the virus starts again. In times of crisis, mountain resorts being close to nature are very sought after (during the peak of the crisis, Verbier was well occupied, even if nobody left home). Switzerland coped well with the crisis and remains a safe choice in difficult times.
